For Anthony Keidis and co. it's been one hell of a transformation from grungy noodlers whacked out on smack and Christ knows what else, to forty something Radio 2 perma-bores, their co-option to the establishment has been a wonderfully disconcerting sight to behold. Obviously they were on a downer from the start with white-boy funk rock's only other notable contenders being Jamiroquai. This being RHCP 06, then, 'Snow (Hey Oh)' sounds like they've been Xeroxed themselves into a world of self-parody, the song comprising a mish-mash of felched v/ocal hooks and guitar lines from every song in their recent history. Were you previously in any doubt that Keidis is on his knees blowing the man, this inoffensive Christmassy lullaby should provide definitive proof. Congratulations Anthony, you're the new Jon Bon Jovi.
